Today's planting equipment requires a smooth round shape for optimal results. The pelleting of seed creates that smooth surface and uniform shape as well as an increase in size and weight: all characteristics designed to maximize planting efficiency. The priming incorporated improves germination capacity and speed of emergence, resulting in more uniformly germinating seedlings. The priming also ensures thermodormancy relief, “insurance” against germination problems for long day varieties at early sowing (late January/early February) at low temperatures. Compared to the regular SplitKote, this specific lightweight coating has a higher absorptive power, but also releases water easier. Consequently this pellet may have advantages over SplitKote under extreme moist conditions, both extreme dry and extreme moist.
