New watermelon priming to overcome abiotic stress

Incotec announces the launch of Promotor Watermelon, a new priming designed to overcome abiotic stress issues during early sowing. This innovation addresses a growing germination challenge in watermelon cultivation caused by abiotic stress (specifically cold stress).

Addressing climate-driven challenges

Extremely warm conditions resulting from climate change are forcing growers to adjust planting schedules to earlier in the season. These conditions increase the risk of cold stress which impedes germination, particularly for watermelon seedlings in outdoor tunnels. Promotor Watermelon solves this challenge by significantly improving germination energy and delivering faster and more uniform germination at 15C. There are tailored priming protocols available for both 3N (seedless) and 2N watermelon seeds.

Promotor Watermelon has shown to protect against this type of abiotic stress, consistently delivering faster and more uniform germination. We are already seeing strong interest from the market as sales begin to accelerate."
